Best of the Bay

This is a brief run down for the Best of the Bay

The expedition starts on the either the 1st or the 8th when the bus will collect everyone from Elmore and drive to Geelong Adventure Park for a relaxing afternoon away from the scouts. We will be camping at Eumeralla.

Day 2 will be spent going on a boat trip to snorkel with dolphins & sea lions and learning how to surf.

Day 3 we will go to Livewire Park in the morning to do the high ropes course and zip line - then we will take the ferry across the bay and set up camp at Bay Park Day 4 will have some free time and a sea Kayak trip Day 5 we will have a quick trip to the chocolate factory and some time on the beach before the expedition ends and you either drive back to Elmore on the bus or head home.

We are travelling around on a large bus as there are 60 on the expedition.

There won’t be too much planned for the evenings so people can just relax.

All catering will be done at the camps.

Some answers to common questions I have had

- you won’t need a dilly bag

- you will need a tent (the same one from Elmore)

- you won’t need any special equipment

- you may need a little spending money

- you should bring an extra towel & pair of bathers

- there is no hiking but bring good shoes

- there is no ‘Open Day’ on the expedition

Mornington Mystery Tour

Welcome to the Mornington Mystery Tour expedition! If you're receiving this email, it means you are joining us for 5 days on the Mornington Peninsula either during or after VicJam. There's less than a month to go now, so I hope you're all getting excited! My name is Chris Anderson and I'm the Expedition Leader.

We'll be based at Bay Park Scout Camp in Mount Martha for the 5 days, but also exploring some of the great activities available around the Peninsula.

We have a fun-filled 5 days planned for you, here's the basic run-down day-by-day:

- Day 1: travel from Elmore, spend the afternoon in Rosebud for beach activities, shopping, etc.

- Day 2: Sailing and Windsurfing at Safety Beach, "Moonlight Cinema" in the evening

- Day 3: Choose Your Own Adventure - a choice of 1 or 3 special activities for the day; Learn to Surf, Sea Kayaking & Snorkelling, or Scenic Flight. Evening entertainment - "Bay Park's Got Talent"

- Day 4: Tree Surfing and Adventure Playground at Arthur's Seat, followed by strawberry picking and visit to a Chocolaterie. Evening entertainment: DJ & Party

- Day 5: Morning beach activities before travel to Elmore or home (depending on which of the expeditions you're doing)

For Day 3, as it's a "Choose Your Own Adventure", you need to choose which special activity you want to do. I have set up a Google Form for you to input your preferences from 1 to 3. Each activity has a maximum of 10 participants, and places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis - ie. if more than 10 people want to do an activity, the first 10 who have filled in the form with that activity as their first preference will be allocated to it. So if you have a strong preference, make sure you fill in the form ASAP

Food: all meals will be catered for you (although you will have to assemble your own lunch pack to take out on activities each day). You won't need a mess kit/dilly bag as we'll have crockery and cutlery for you on site. Those of you with dietary requirements will be looked after, but if you have any concerns please let me know and I can discuss with our catering team.

Camping: Venturers will be camping in tents which you will need to bring with you from Elmore (as well as the rest of your gear). There are proper toilets and showers on site though! We won't have any clothes washing facilities on site, but there will be a couple of opportunities to visit a local laundromat if you need to do laundry.

Money: all the main activities as well as food and accommodation are included in your VicJam fee, however you will have opportunities for shopping or buying souvenirs, or for doing laundry at the laundromat, so having some spending money will be useful. It's entirely up to you how much to bring/ have available, and whatever you bring you will be responsible for yourself (same goes for any other valuable items you might bring like phones/music players/cameras/etc.)
